Design and appearance

Form design that looks right by default

Every Formius form ships with a clean, modern, mobile-ready look, so you never have to be a designer to publish something professional.

Most form tools give you a blank canvas and leave the look to you: pick fonts, fight with spacing, worry about how it renders on a phone, and hope it reads as trustworthy. That is a design project you did not ask for. Formius takes the opposite stance. Every form you publish arrives with a considered, modern appearance already applied, so the default is something you would be happy to send to a client.

The goal is a form that gets out of the way. Clean typography, generous spacing, a calm layout, and clear labels mean respondents focus on answering rather than decoding your form. You describe what you need, Formius handles how it looks, and the result works the same on a laptop or a phone without any effort from you.

Professional out of the box

Formius renders your form on a light, uncluttered page with the questions grouped in a single clean card, a bold title, and readable body text. Buttons, inputs, and choice fields all share one consistent visual language, so the form looks intentional rather than assembled from mismatched parts.

This is the default for every form, with no setup step. You do not choose a template or configure a stylesheet: the moment a form exists, it already looks finished. If your form has multiple sections, you can optionally show a progress bar so respondents always know how far along they are.

Mobile-ready without a second version

A large share of form responses come from phones, so the layout is responsive by design. Text scales for smaller screens, spacing adapts, and the navigation buttons stack vertically on narrow devices instead of crowding a single row. There is no separate mobile form to maintain: the one form you publish fits whatever screen opens it.

  • A single centered column that stays comfortable to read on any width.
  • Navigation that reflows for small screens so nothing is cramped or cut off.
  • Native input types for email, phone, number, date, and time, which trigger the right on-screen keyboard on mobile.
  • Titles and headings that scale down cleanly on phones and up on larger displays.

Accessible and readable by default

Good design includes people using keyboards and screen readers. Formius forms are built with proper labels tied to every input, grouped choice fields announced correctly, visible focus rings as you tab through, required fields marked clearly, and inline errors that are announced rather than shown silently. Loading and error states use polite live regions so assistive technology keeps up.

You get this accessibility work for free, on every form, without knowing the underlying rules. It is part of the default rather than an advanced setting you have to find and switch on.

Your title, your words, honest about controls

The part of the design that is truly yours is the content. Each form carries its own title and description, and both are localizable, so a multilingual form shows the right heading in each respondent language. Section headers and short info blocks let you frame questions and add context exactly where a respondent needs it.

To be clear about what Formius does not do: there is no color picker, theme editor, logo upload, font selector, or custom CSS today. The tradeoff is deliberate. Instead of handing you knobs that make it easy to build something inconsistent, Formius gives every form one polished, professional look you can trust and publish immediately.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need design skills to make a form look good?
No. Every Formius form uses a professional default appearance with clean typography, spacing, and a consistent layout. You write the questions and the form already looks finished.
Can I change the colors, fonts, or add my logo?
Not today. Formius does not offer a color picker, theme editor, logo upload, or custom CSS. It applies one considered, modern look to every form so the result is consistent and trustworthy without setup.
Do Formius forms work well on mobile?
Yes. The layout is responsive, text and spacing adapt to the screen, buttons reflow on narrow devices, and native input types bring up the correct on-screen keyboard. One form fits every screen.
Are the forms accessible?
Yes. Forms ship with labeled inputs, correctly grouped choice fields, visible keyboard focus, clearly marked required fields, and inline errors that are announced to screen readers. This is built in on every form.
Can I customize the form title and description?
Yes. Each form has its own title and description, both localizable, so the right heading appears in each respondent language. You can also add section headers and info blocks to guide respondents.
Can I show progress on a long form?
Yes. For multi-section forms you can enable a progress bar so respondents can see how far along they are and how much is left.
